On the nose, it reveals notes of peach, floral nuances, and hints of citrus, accompanied by subtle oxidative undertones and echoes of terracotta (baked clay or ceramic). On the palate, it presents as dry, with good concentration, a slight clay-like character, and a delicate saline touch, concluding with a broad, mineral finish and a fine, lingering dryness.

Collaborations invariably enhance, particularly when they originate from such diverse places as Madeira and the Alentejo. This is precisely what occurred with Barbeito & Rocim, who combined their expertise to craft a unique wine: A Meias.

Barbeito, a renowned winery in Madeira, has spent decades perfecting the island's winemaking tradition, particularly with the verdelho variety, celebrated for its fresh and fruity notes. Meanwhile, Herdade do Rocim, located in Baixo Alentejo, Portugal, integrates vineyards and olive groves across approximately 120 hectares, focusing on the production of high-quality wines, with a commitment to innovation and an aesthetic approach.

The outcome of this collaboration is A Meias, a singular white wine as it represents the first Madeira crafted in amphorae from the Alentejo. It is primarily made with the verdelho variety, complemented by a hint of sercial. The grapes are meticulously selected and transported in 20 kg boxes. The vinification process includes a two-day skin maceration and cold alcoholic fermentation at 16°C, with the wine maturing for 12 months in clay amphorae, which imparts its mineral and elegant character.

Thus, A Meias embodies the confluence of two distinct worlds. A unique wine that reflects the identity of two regions and the mastery of their wineries in creating something out of the ordinary.
