About Barco del Corneta Ladura

Barco del Corneta Ladura is a red wine produced at the winery Barco del Corneta in La Seca, V.T. Castilla y León.


In 2008, Beatriz Herranz returns to La Seca, Valladolid, to start her new project at the family vineyards and recover the essence of Verdejo.

She cultivates all her vines following the standards of organic agriculture, respecting the variety, the soils and the climate. These vineyards are located in the natural site Paraje de Cantarranas, La Seca. Its soils are sandy, with a lot of boulders, and they are clayey and limestone-based in deeper strata. Climate is continental, with cold and dry winters.
 

Barco del Corneta Ladura is part of the recovery project that Beatriz is carrying out alongside local wine growers with the local varieties of the area. Prapetisco is born from a vineyard owned by Juan García and which was recovered in 2014. This vineyard has 80-year-old vines, they grow on soils comprised by granite and quartz, and they are located in the Arribes del Duero Natural Park (Zamora) at 670 metres of altitude.

Grapes are manually harvested and placed in 15 kg boxes. The whole grapes, without destemming, go through a light extraction and are fermented in open deposits with a capacity of 1000 litres. Once they are pressed, they are left in 225, 400 and 600 litre barrels for a whole year.
 

2016

Barco del Corneta Prapetisco 2016 is a supple red wine brimming with aromas of ripe red fruit, candied nuances, spicy undertones, and earthy hints. On the palate, it is fruit-forward, meaty, and well-constructed. This wine boasts a robust acidity, vigorous tannins, and an enduring finish.

 
2015 Barco del Corneta Prapetisco 2015 is a juicy red wine with a nose of ripe black fruit, violet flowers and spicy touches. On the palate it is expressive and lively with good acidity and a herbaceous background. The finish is lingering and pleasant.
2014 Barco del Corneta Prapetisco 2014 is an expressive, structured and elegant wine. In this vintage, the smoky notes are present from the outset, but do not succeed in masking a more subtle fruitiness. A pleasant, lingering wine.
