Barón de Ley Varietales Maturana 2023 is a red wine that offers aromas of stewed ripe fruit intertwined with balsamic notes, a whisper of mint, and delicate mineral and cocoa nuances. About Barón de Ley Varietales Maturana

Barón de Ley Varietales Maturana is a red wine from the D.O.C Rioja produced by the Barón de Ley winery (situated in Mendavia, Navarra). The winery was founded back in the 1980’s with the aim of producing classic style wines.

The winery is currently home to 400 hectares of vineyards situated across different zones of the D.O.C Rioja, with the different grape varieties adapting to the different microclimates of the DO, from the Alavesa to the Rioja Baja.

Barón de Ley Varietales Maturana is made exclusively with the Matura grape variety, taken from an estate which surrounds the winery in Mendavia. The Matura has actually only recently been recognised and permited by the D.O.C.

The winemaking process begins with fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. This is followed by malolactic fermentation, which lasts for 15 days at a controlled temperature of 20º in the same tanks. The wine is then aged for 6 months in American oak barrels and 12 months in French oak barrels.

Barón de Ley Varietales Maturana is perhaps the wine in the collection that offers the most unique character, due to the Maturana variety and its long ageing.

Its extensive finish and lingering aftertaste reflect its opulent body and unmistakable roundness.
