About Beaufort Frères Rosé

Amory, Constant and Reol, the three sons of the famous Champagne region organic winemaker Jacques Beaufort, make sparkling wines following the same working philosophy as their father at Beaufort Frères. This project was set up by the three brothers when they decided to collaborate with a friend who produces organic grapes in Narbonne, in the extreme south of France. They follow the rich family traditions started by Jacques when he developed an allergy to the chemicals he was using to treat the vines for pests and diseases. Homeopathy, aromatherapy and agro-biological methods are the main focus both inside and outside the vineyard and the results are so pleasing that the accolades keep pouring in.

So, following Beaufort’s own premise that “Although a healthy grape doesn’t guarantee a good wine, it does allow the winemaker to make it”, all the fruit used in winemaking is produced using only natural ingredients. Beaufort Frères Rosé is made from organic Pinot Noir grapes harvested by hand at the optimum point of ripeness. In the winery, the grapes undergo a short maceration with the skins without the addition of sulphur, and fermentation takes place in oak barrels with native yeasts. The base wine is then aged for 8 months. Following the traditional method, the second fermentation happens in the bottle on the lees for at least 24 months and disgorgement is “a la volée” (by hand), without filtration or clarification.

Considering that the wines made by the Beaufort House have been recognised by wine critics and champagne lovers from all over the world, Beaufort Frères Rosé, a Vin Mousseux, is a very good opportunity to experience first-hand the brilliant personality of some unique wines.

 

2016

Beaufort Frères Rosé 2016 is a fruity sparkling wine with a fragrant nose of red fruit, notes of pink flowers and hints of spice. On the palate it is broad, rich and flavoursome. A champagne with beautiful acidity, integrated bubbles and a very mineral long finish.
