About Benoît Ente Golden Jubilee

In the heart of Puligny-Montrachet, in central Côte de Beaune (southern Burgundy), lies an estate of barely five hectares where some of the world's best white wines are produced. This property belongs to the Ente family, who has been working the vineyards here since the beginning of the 20th century. These vines have witnessed wars, crises, diseases... and they are still there, still standing, offering grapes with an enviable concentration. This is something to celebrate and that is why Benoît Ente, the latest generation of the family, is launching Benoît Ente Golden Jubilee on the market.

Benoît is just one of the names in this dynasty of winegrowers that began with his grandfather, who, after the war, was in charge of replanting all the vineyards that had been left in a state of neglect during the years of fighting. Now, Benoît and his brother, also known as Arnaud Ente, are putting this family legacy that is growing in Les Esguinces, east of Puligny, to good use. Here there is a predominant mixture of clayey and silty soils, quite deep, with traces of limestone in the lower layers. This last element will be responsible for the mineral touches of the whites from this area, which they will try to enhance as much as possible in the cellar.

As a general rule, Benoît Ente is in favour of a minimal interventionist approach. Just a few gentle pressings, with barrel ageing, will be the key elements during the process of any wine. This will be essential, as the real important thing will be achieved in the field. Here, at the foot of the vineyard, Benoît Ente practises biodynamic and organic farming, in which each element of the ecosystem is respected to the full. Obviously, within this philosophy, there is no place for chemical products.

Benoît Ente Golden Jubilee will also be one of the first wines to be harvested. Benoît Ente is always looking for the correct ripening of the chardonnay, regularly checking and verifying the ripeness of the bunches. The anniversary of this family cannot be celebrated enough. Here's to another 50 years!

Benoît Ente Golden Jubilee 2020 is a white wine with aromas of stone fruit, citrus, toasty notes and freshly baked bread. The palate is satiny and meaty, with a very pleasant texture and very well integrated oak, both on the nose and in the mouth. A brilliant and precise white wine, deep and penetrating.
