About Bernard Baudry Rouge

Bernard Baudry Rouge is a biodynamic single-variety Cabernet Franc red wine produced by Bernard Baudry under the A.O.C. Chinon, in the Loire Valley, France.

The Bernard Baudry Rouge wine comes from plots with limestone subsoils, which gives it minerality and freshness. These vineyards are planted with vines aged between 30 and 35 years old that are harvested manually. The must is fermented for two weeks in cement tanks and the resulting wine ages for 15 months in oak or uncoated cement tanks and is bottled unfiltered two springs after harvest.

Bernard Baudry comes from a family of winegrowers and is one of the most respected and well known producers in Chinon. He started his own winery with just two hectares of land. Now, he and his son Matthieu work together on 32 hectares spread across the Loire Valley, within the A.O.C. Chinon, where they hold to the principles of biodynamic agriculture.

Their wines are made with respect for nature; they do not use any chemical products in the vineyards, instead, all treatments are made from what they find on their own land. A real connoisseur of the different terroirs that make up his plots and a man who manages to perfectly convey the different expressions of Cabernet Franc, the flagship red variety of the area. In short, these are delicate and elegant terroir wines.
