About Bodega Cerrón Matas Altas Blanco

As they say, "not everything is written in the DO Jumilla," hence Carlos and Juan Cerdán are the authors of this new chapter in the appellation, which spans from the southeast of Albacete to the north of Murcia. Now the brothers take up pen and paper (or computer keyboard) to begin crafting the new narrative of this business founded in 1895. 
 
A century later, the mission of Bodega Cerrón remains unchanged: to safeguard the heritage of vineyards and to restore those that were nearly abandoned. Thus, by producing wines in the present—without compromising the future—emerges Bodega Cerrón Matas Altas Blanco. 
 
In the Albacete municipality of Fuente-Álamo, in the southeast of the province, the two brothers organically cultivate about 26 hectares of vineyards. On calcareous soils with sands and marls, at altitudes between 840 and 900 metres above sea level, they meticulously tend to all the ungrafted vines of the Paraje de Fortaleza, where Bodega Cerrón Matas Altas Blanco originates. From macabeo, airén, and several other white varieties (such as tortosí, malvasía, or pardilla), they manage to capture all the character of this organic land currently transitioning to biodynamic practices. This spirit was the seed of this family enterprise, nurtured by great-grandfather Francisco Cerdán, who had the foresight to identify and select the ideal zones for vine planting. 
 
Bodega Cerrón Matas Altas Blanco is harvested by hand and brought to the winery, where all the varieties are vinified together. Bodega Cerrón Matas Altas Blanco ferments and completes its process resting in large capacity foudres (approximately 5,000 litres).
