Some decisions may seem like madness... until time unveils them as visionary acts. This is how the story of Poderi Boscarelli began, a winery born from the unexpected turn of a man accustomed to figures, ports, and international contracts. For although money is enticing and finance alluring, the Tuscan landscape can sway even the most hardened broker.
In 1962, Egidio Corradi, born into an ancient Polizia family and a graduate in Economics and Commerce, lived between Genoa and Milan working as an international broker. Yet beneath that grey business suit beat a dream in burgundy: to produce a noble wine that captured the essence of his native land, Cervognano di Montepulciano, a historic corner of Tuscany where Vino Nobile DOCG has centuries-old roots.
That year, he purchased two small, semi-abandoned farms and began their transformation. Instead of stock quotes and charts, he learned to read soils and await the seasons. His vision was clear: to craft an elegant, authentic wine deeply connected to the terroir. But the story did not end with Egidio. His daughter Paola Corradi and her husband Ippolito De Ferrari took the reins in the sixties, shaping Poderi Boscarelli into what we know today. With determination and dedication, they expanded and solidified the project. Today, Luca and Nicolò De Ferrari, the third generation, keep that original spirit alive. That is, respect for the land, elegance in the glass, and continuity in vision.
Boscarelli Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is the living testament of this legacy. Crafted from sangiovese—the queen variety, locally known as prugnolo gentile—and a small percentage of malvasia nera, colorino, mammolo, and canaiolo, it is harvested exclusively by hand to preserve the quality of the fruit. Here, the clay and sandy soil combine with a temperate microclimate, allowing the vines to sink their roots and mature with balance.
The grapes undergo gentle pressing and fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures (28-30 °C) for approximately a week, with manual pump-overs that gently extract colour and aroma. Afterwards, the wine ages for 18-24 months in barrels, refining its structure and developing that characteristic elegance.
Boscarelli Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is a reflection of a Tuscan landscape that, like a magnet, continues to captivate those in search of authenticity. It is proof that true wealth is not always measured in figures, but in aromas, landscapes, and memories revealed in every glass.
