At Boscarelli, every vineyard has its own narrative, yet “Sotto Casa” holds a special place. It is situated right next to the winery, a location where family passion meets the land. This vineyard lends its name to Boscarelli Sotto Casa Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva, a Cru that embodies the identity of a single plot, stony and rich in red clay of alluvial origin. Here, the sangiovese prugnolo gentile unveils its full character, complemented by hints of cabernet sauvignon and a touch of merlot.
Sotto Casa represents not only a unique terroir but also a century-long project. The Boscarelli winery was founded in 1962 by Egidio Corradi, who dreamt of restoring Montepulciano to its former wine glory. His daughter Paola Corradi and her husband Ippolito De Ferrari solidified the project, planting specialized vineyards and constructing the winery, and today Luca and Nicolò De Ferrari continue this legacy, tending to each parcel and ensuring every bottle reflects history, tradition, and family passion.
The grapes for Boscarelli Sotto Casa Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva are harvested by hand, destemmed, and gently pressed before fermenting separately in oak vats, using native yeasts. The fermentation lasts approximately 10 days at controlled temperatures, with manual pump-overs and punch-downs, and maceration can extend between 5 and 8 additional days to capture the full complexity of each variety.
Each cuvée matures separately in Slavonian or French oak barrels for 28 to 32 months, where malolactic fermentation also occurs. Only at the end are the different cuvées assembled, and the wine rests for several months in the bottle before being released to the market.
Boscarelli Sotto Casa Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva is a wine that combines structure, elegance, and expression of the terroir, but above all, it is a reflection of the Boscarelli family project, where tradition, technique, and dedication come together to share the most authentic Tuscany.
