About Bott Côte-Rôtie

The Rhône Valley is one of the world's most iconic wine regions, where history, terroir, and tradition have been intertwined for centuries. However, in a landscape dominated by illustrious names and legendary estates, there remains room for surprise. Emerging talents are rewriting the region's narrative with a fresh, precise, and profoundly respectful approach to the land. Among them are Graeme and Julie Bott, a couple who perfectly embody the new generation of the northern Rhône.

He, a New Zealander; she, from the valley itself. They met while working for the iconic Stéphane Ogier in Côte-Rôtie and decided to embark on an endeavour that many would have deemed impossible: creating their own estate from scratch, without inheritances or family vineyards. They hand-cleared the hillsides, rebuilt stone walls, and planted their first vines in granite and schist soils. Today, Domaine Bott is synonymous with precision, elegance, and authenticity.

Their Bott Côte-Rôtie is a tribute to this quest for purity. Sourced from vineyards planted on schist soils—the mineral soul of the appellation—and bathed in a mild Mediterranean climate, this wine expresses syrah in its most refined form. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks preserves the fruit's freshness, while extended maceration extracts colour, tannins, and depth. The 20-month ageing in oak barrels imparts structure, silky texture, and a complexity that unfolds layer by layer.

Bott Côte-Rôtie is a wine that breathes modernity without forsaking its roots, demonstrating that in the Rhône there are still stories to be written, wines to be discovered, and dreams to be uncorked.
