About Brigaldara Valpolicella

Looking at the archives, the first time the name Brigaldara appears is in a deed from 1260 and it referred to a group of farmhouses, the village and the surrounding countryside. Now owned by the Cesari family, this estate located just outside the village of San Floriano, in the district of Valpolicella Classica (Veneto), covers 50 hectares of land including the property, vineyards and olive groves. This is where winemaker Stefano Cesari produces high quality Valpolicella and Amarone wines using natural and traditional production methods that allow each of his wines to reflect the characteristics of their ancient and highly valued terroir.

Among the winery’s productions is Brigaldara Valpolicella, a red wine made from Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes planted in 1970 and 1980 at an altitude of 450 metres. They are cultivated using environmentally-friendly agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness. The grapes are selected in the vineyard, packed in 200 kg boxes and transported directly to the winery. Once the grapes are destemmed and pressed, fermentation begins at a constant temperature, always in contact with the grape skins, with daily pumping over. The wine then ages in stainless steel tanks for 6 months.

Unlike the typical robust wines of the DOC Valpolicella, Brigaldara Valpolicella is an elegant, well-structured wine that stands out for the fruit flavours that emanate from this lovely, remote estate.

Brigaldara Valpolicella 2020 is a juicy red wine with vibrant aromas of red fruit and violet notes. The palate is balanced, clean and well structured. A refreshing and easy to drink wine with floral flavours and lovely harmonious acidity.
