About Bruno Rocca Langhe Nebbiolo Fralú

The connection between the Rocca family and Barbaresco spans over a century. Various papers and official documents trace the beginning of this affair back to the 19th century. Today, this bond has evolved into a steadfast union (by right), and the latest generation of this family is not only concerned with its heritage but also with its future. Thus, do not be surprised if in this winery, renowned for its old vineyard productions, you stumble upon something with a distinctly modern profile, such as Bruno Rocca Langhe Nebbiolo Fralù.
 
Named after the children of Bruno (Francesco + Luisa = Fralù) and crafted from significantly younger vineyards, Bruno Rocca Langhe Nebbiolo Fralù represents the most contemporary venture of this Northern Italian winery. Only grapes from the youngest Nebbiolo vines are selected for the creation of this red wine, which ferments in stainless steel vats. Despite its youth, it does not forsake aspirations of resembling a grand Barbaresco, maturing in wood (for at least one year).
 
Bruno Rocca Langhe Nebbiolo Fralù strives to be a true reflection of its terroir. Its certified organic methodology aims to honor both the vine's fruits and the prevalent clay-limestone soils of the DOC Langhe Nebbiolo. In total, Bruno Rocca manages approximately 12.5 hectares, which continue to be cultivated manually, employing traditional methods, to uphold a level of quality that cannot be replicated in the winery. Whatever is necessary should be performed in the field itself, with the winery's role being to guide the wine, meticulously overseeing the fermentation and intervening only when essential. This philosophy is evident in Bruno Rocca Langhe Nebbiolo Fralù. The process begins with a manual harvest, using small crates, where the grapes are swiftly transported to the destemmer and the stainless steel vats to commence fermentation. Over approximately 10 days, yeasts transform the must into wine, with the fermentation temperature being carefully monitored. It is noteworthy that the various parcels that constitute the soul of Bruno Rocca Langhe Nebbiolo Fralù are handled separately, ensuring the character of each terroir is preserved. The journey of Bruno Rocca Langhe Nebbiolo Fralù does not end here. It continues for about another year, during which Bruno Rocca Langhe Nebbiolo Fralù will age in French oak barrels, acquiring a delightful texture.
