Campo Viejo Blanco is a white wine crafted by the Campo Viejo winery in Logroño, DOCa Rioja.
Campo Viejo boasts a rich history that dates back to its inaugural vintage in 1959, produced at the old Ortigüela winery, until the unveiling of their cutting-edge sustainable winery in 2001. This long-standing commitment to crafting Rioja wines, combined with the implementation of the most advanced techniques, has enabled Campo Viejo to develop new combinations within traditional methods, offering today's wine enthusiasts more modern, vibrant, and expressive styles.
Campo Viejo oversees more than 1900 hectares for wine production, with most vines being over 25 years old. This allows them to select the finest grapes under optimal conditions from varying altitudes, orientations, and soils.
Campo Viejo Blanco is a wine crafted from viura, verdejo, chardonnay, and tempranillo blanco.
After the harvest, the must undergoes clarification using the flotation technique, employing nitrogen to preserve its colour and aroma. Once clarified, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16-18°C. Ten percent of the wine is aged for three months in new American oak barrels, while the remainder stays in contact with its fine lees.
