About Cantos de Valpiedra

Cantos de Valpiedra is a red wine from Rioja, produced by the Finca Valpiedra cellar. The winery has 80 hectares of vineyards nestled in a bend of the river Ebro, between the towns of ashtray and Fuenmayor, in La Rioja Media.
 

Cantos de Valpiedra is 100% made from Tempranillo from the Valpiedra Finca.

The development of Cantos de Valpiedra begins with a manual harvest during the third week of September.

Once in the winery the must is fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. It later undergoes a maceration for 14 days.

The wine is then aged for 12 months in barrels of French and American oak.

2019

Cantos de Valpiedra 2019 presents an intense purple hue with violet glints, revealing its rich concentration. On the nose, this wine displays a high aromatic intensity, highlighted by notes of ripe blackberries and sloes, complemented by a pronounced mineral character. Aromas of vanilla, spices, and tobacco, derived from its barrel aging, enrich its profile. On the palate, it offers a rich and intense attack, with a luscious passage and well-balanced acidity that maintains freshness. The finish is long and mineral, with an echo of fine woods that underscores its elegance.                      
2012 Very cool, sweet and silky. Fine tannins and a well-balanced acidity. Lingering finish with hints of minerals.

Intense purple with purple hues. Abundant and slightly tinted tear.

Great aromatic intensity, marked ripe black fruit with mineral notes, toast and spice. Balanced and intense.
2011 This new vintage stands out for its intense freshness given by a magnificent acidity, which also gives it a good structure. A red wine with broad attack, and juicy on the palate. Very fine and polished tannins. Mildly bitter finish with mineral notes, good persistence.

Intense ruby red colour with violet reflections. Clean and bright. Even-falling slightly tinted tears stain the glass.

Clean, highly aromatic nose. Very balanced. Aromas of ripe black fruit and pleasant toasted notes of vanilla and toffee prevail. Mineral notes in the background.

2009 In the mouth, this wine stands out for its intense freshness, provided by a wonderful acidity which also provides it with a good structure. Warm and embracing attack and a good, juicy mid palate, in which its very elegant and polished tannins are noticed. The bitter and mineral touches noticed in its finish provide the whole set with a great elegance.

Wine with a high robe and a ruby-cherry red colour with violet reflections. It is clean and bright. Dense and uniform tears which stain the glass.

Good and well balance aromatic intensity. The notes of ripe red fruit and the toasted, vanilla and toffee aromas are displayed on a fresh and elegant mineral background.
2008 Wine with a very good, powerful and enveloping attack and a silky and oily mid palate. Its tasty and slightly sweet notes of fruit are felt along with the toasted aromas. Its excellent acidity provides it with a great freshness. Its tannins are soft and sweet. It has a long finish which reminds of its vineyards' typical minerality. Cantos de Valpiedra is an elegant, fine and seductive wine.

Intense cherry red colour with bluish, almost purple edges. It has abundant and dense legs which stain the glass.

Very intense and balanced aromas. Its notes of very ripe black fruit are h highly expressive, intense and deep. When it opens up, the good toasted notes provided by the ageing, its sweet spices (vanilla) and some notes of tobacco are also felt on its powerful mineral background.
2007 Wine with a good load of fruit and a soft, silky and unctuous mid palate. Very tasty and delicious wine with a good acidity that freshens the wine highly. Good tannins. Good finish that leaves sweet hints of cocoa and vanilla and a balsamic touch. A round, very seductive wine, which invites to enjoy the wine and the moment.

Intense and bright cherry colour with a medium robe and dense legs.

Complex and very enjoyable. Its very expressive notes of ripe fruit are released along with intense aromas provided by the oak (toasted, creamy and smoky aromas) and complex rather sweety spices (vanilla, tobacco, chocolate). Elegant floral nuances round out this bouquet.
2006

This wine of Rioja has a strong attack, a sweet and oily mid palate, well-balanced acidity and fine tannins. Very fresh wine. Long finish with hints of minerals and good wood.



Intense cherry colour with blue trims. Bright. Rich and dense tears.



Highly aromatic with black fruit aromas outstanding on a background of mineral notes and floral hints accompanied by creamy touches provided by the oak.
