About Casebianche Il Fric

The pet-nat, or pétillant naturel— a sparkling wine crafted using the ancestral method— has become an international phenomenon that cannot be overlooked. Amidst peaks of excellence and some more daring or unconventional references, this trend has captivated many ventures willing to embrace it all. In Campania (Italy), the most brilliant example is Casebianche, which has adeptly reinterpreted the winemaking tradition with a fresh, artisanal, and remarkably creative approach.

It all began when Elisabetta Iuorio and Pasquale Mitrano, former architects, decided to make a radical change in their lives. They left behind blueprints and construction to devote themselves to viticulture and winemaking at their estate Casebianche, located in Torchiara, within the Cilento National Park. With the mission to create wines that authentically reflect the character of the region, they combine the area's natural richness with traditional and environmentally friendly techniques. Their artisanal approach is evident in every bottle, but the greatest example of creativity and boldness is found in their interpretation of the pétillant naturel.

Casebianche Il Fric, an IGT Paestum, is a sparkling wine born from the ancestral method. That is, the refermentation occurs directly in the bottle, without adding sugars or external yeasts. The aglianico grapes are pressed whole, without destemming, and the second fermentation is initiated with fresh must. At the end of the process, the wine is not disgorged, reaching the glass with its natural sediment, preserving all its character and authenticity.

Casebianche Il Fric is a playful, fragrant, and delightful wine, where a historic grape like aglianico is presented in an unusual and surprising manner, demonstrating both the versatility of this variety and the creativity of the winemakers at Casebianche.
