About Cavarodes Côtes du Jura Chardonnay Les Lumachelles

As in all sectors, there are always young discoveries who stand out from the crowd thanks to their innovative ideas and original work philosophy. People who go against the flow and without conforming to the established methods, manage to stand out from the crowd with unique and original wines. This is the story of Etienne Thiebaud, a young and brilliant winemaker who since 2007 has used traditional techniques, a strong love for the land and the care of the vines, and turned his Domaine des Cavarodes winery into a new generation leader in the AOC Jura.

With only 4.5 hectares of vineyards (15 to 115 years old) located in the village of Cramans, in the northern part of the Jura (France), the key vineyard is Lumachelles, in the commune of Mouchard. This is where the Chardonnay grapes come from to make Cavarodes Côtes du Jura Chardonnay Les Lumachelles. They are cultivated according to organic principles, following the lunar calendar and harvested by hand at the optimum point of ripeness. In the winery, the grapes are vinified naturally with native yeasts and aged on their lees in large used foudres for 12 months.

The result is brilliant. Cavarodes Côtes du Jura Chardonnay Les Lumachelles is a Chardonnay that reflects the Jura terroir it comes from with astonishing purity. Fragrant and ethereal typicity that is the perfect introduction to the white wines of the AOC Arbois.
