About Celler Sanromà Escumós Rosat

When we hear "limited production," it may sound elitist, as if these wines are only for a select few. However, behind those numbers lie tales of passion, experimentation, and terroir. Eduard Sanromà, the winemaker and owner of Celler Sanromà in Vila-Rodona (Catalonia), understands this well.

After four generations dedicated to agriculture, Eduard decided to take a further step, transforming the family vineyards into his own wines. Today, he produces around 30,000 bottles annually in a natural, indigenous manner with minimal intervention. Each wine is single-varietal, estate-grown, and reflects the personality of its plots. There are no shortcuts, only patience, respect for the land, and much affection.

One of his clearest examples is Celler Sanromà Escumós Rosat. This sparkling wine, crafted from the trepat variety using the ancestral method, completes its fermentation in the bottle, resulting in a lively and sparkling wine. Frisant and fresh, it embodies the typical character of this variety, so characteristic of the mid-altitude lands around Vila-Rodona. Each sip is a nod to the history and character of the place.

In Eduard's words: "I don't make wines to follow rules, but to express what the vineyard tells me." And it shows. Each bottle of Celler Sanromà Escumós Rosat is indeed limited, but it is also authentic, approachable, and full of personality. A wine that proves small production is not merely synonymous with exclusivity, but with passion, terroir, and freedom.
