About César Príncipe

César Príncipe Crianza is a red wine from Cigales prepared by César Príncipe. This wine is a varietal Tempranillo.

César Príncipe Crianza comes from grapes from three different plots located in Fuensaldaña, Valladolid. The vines are old and they have a very low density.

The harvest is manual, the clusters, once in the cellar, go through a process of complete stripping. A cold maceration is performed for about two days. The resulting juice from this process is subsequently fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 28 and 30 degrees.

After the first fermentation of about a week, maceration occurs in contact with the skins for three weeks.

César Príncipe Crianza then undergoes malolactic fermentation in some barrels and the rest in deposits.

César Príncipe Crianza is finally aged in French oak barrels (80%) and American barrels (the remaining 20%) for a period of 14 months. The barrels are renewed and no transfer occurs.

The César Príncipe winery, named after its founder, has 40 acres of old vines with an average age of above 60 years. They are one of the greatest exponents of Cigales.

2021

César Príncipe 2021 is an expressive and powerful red wine. On the nose, it reveals aromas of strawberries and raspberries intermingled with hints of toffee, spices, balsamic notes, and liquorice. On the palate, it offers a broad and lingering passage, with firm, integrated, and mature tannins. Its concentrated profile makes it rich in nuances and it evolves interestingly in the glass.                       
2017

César Príncipe 2017 is an exquisitely refined and nuanced red. Olfactorily, it is intricate and articulate, adorned with spicy and mineral hints, alongside nuances of ripe black fruit. On the palate, it is graceful, well-structured, and has a meaty texture. It's enticingly sweet. Utterly sophisticated. Concludes with an extensive and enduring finish. 
2012 Spacious and elegant. Fruity and with good acidity. It is fleshy, tasty and fine. Highlights of tannins and a good, persevering, long end.

2011 This red wine is broad, appetising, elegant, fine and deep on the palate. It is fleshy, tasty and fruity, with well-integrated acidity and ripe tannins. Long and persistent finish.
