About Château des Ferrages Les Infirmières Blanc

Indubitably, clairette is one of the most ancient grape varieties in France. Numerous theories suggest, albeit without historical confirmation, that it originated in Adissan, in the Hérault department, around the year 1490. Regardless of the precise date, its Mediterranean roots are unquestionable. This varietal is used to craft one of the most enticing white wines: Château des Ferrages Les Infirmières Blanc.

The esteemed Chapoutier wine house is behind the creation of this wine, which hails from Pourcieux, situated in the Sainte-Victoire region of the A.O.C. Côtes de Provence. Here, Mathilde Chapoutier discovered Château des Ferrages, a 28-hectare estate that was revitalized and augmented with a state-of-the-art winery, where traditional yet high-quality vinifications are conducted. Perhaps this is the secret of Château des Ferrages Les Infirmières Blanc: adhering to time-honored methods while executing them exceptionally well. The grapes, flourishing at the base of Mont Aurélin on clayey, silty, and calcareous soils, are handpicked upon reaching optimal maturity. Thanks to the region's cool climate—despite its proximity to the Mediterranean—the grapes retain freshness and the right level of acidity. Throughout the production process, this aspect is meticulously attended to. For this reason, the grapes are harvested in the morning, avoiding the intense heat of the day, and are brought to the winery while still cool and at the proper temperature. From there, Château des Ferrages Les Infirmières Blanc is promptly pressed to preserve its aromatic potential and gently crushed. Once the must is obtained, Château des Ferrages Les Infirmières Blanc is allowed to settle briefly before it undergoes alcoholic fermentation in barrels.

Overall, it is a youthful wine, unaged in any vessel, that is swiftly bottled—yet it will mature gracefully over an extended period in the bottle. There may be countless clairette monovarietals out there, but rest assured, none compare to Château des Ferrages Les Infirmières Blanc.

2017

Château des Ferrages Les Infirmières Blanc 2017 is an aromatic white, exceedingly refined and subtle, displaying golden yellow and straw highlights. Olfactorily, it is intricate, boasting an extensive array of scents ranging from stone fruit to citrus, interspersed with mineral nuances. On the palate, it is rich and profound, warm and enduring. A wine to be savored thoughtfully and contemplatively.
