About Château Pesquié Terrasses Rosé

Although vines have been cultivated in the southeastern part of the Rhône region (France) for over a thousand years, it was not until 1973 that the AOC Ventoux was created with the aim of bringing together the wines influenced by the highest mountain in Provence, Mont Ventoux. It was originally called Côtes du Ventoux, but in 2008, they decided to shorten the name to make it easier for consumers to remember. This, combined with a winemaking process more focused on quality than quantity, has given shape to a new style of exquisite wines, the result of Ventoux’s unique microclimate and soils. One of the pioneering winemaking families in this denomination is the Chaudière family. The Château Pesquié winery lies between two worlds, the Alpine and the Mediterranean, and this area is characterised by one of the sunniest and coolest microclimates in the southern Rhône Valley thanks to its altitude (between 300 and 400 metres). Today, the third generation, brothers Alexandre and Fréderic, continue the legacy of their grandparents and parents with the same passion and, like their predecessors, they exploit the full potential of the Ventoux terroir as standard-bearers for the region.

Inspired by the wine terraces that dot the mountainous landscape of Ventoux, they launched Château Pesquié Terrasses Rosé.  A blend of Syrah, Grenache and Cinsault from a unique terroir of nutrient-poor limestone soil at an altitude of approximately 350 metres. Organic agriculture is practiced and harvests are always very delicate. In the winery, the grapes are selected and destemmed and lightly pressed. The resulting must is fermented in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures to maintain a healthy and fresh fruit structure and, finally, the wine is bottled unrefined.

Thus, the result of a unique terroir characterised by a very cool microclimate, despite being in the southern part of the Rhône Valley, Château Pesquié Terrasses Rosé is much more than just a rosé aperitif. A rosé gem from the southern Rhône.
