About Château Simone Palette Rouge

If Château Simone is known for one thing, it is for being the instigator in the creation of the AOC Palette, a small denomination in the heart of the French wine region of Provence. The person in charge was Jean Rougier, the fourth winemaker of the owner family, who recognised the potential of the characteristic limestone soil called “Calcaire de Langesse” and who linked it directly to quality Provençal viticulture. This winery is mainly famous for its white wines, but their Château Simone reveals that their reds are just as tasty.

Château Simone comes from a 23-hectare estate on these limestone scree soils that are so characteristic of the AOC Palette. A coupage of Grenache, Cinsault, Monastrell, Mourvèdre and Syrah red varieties where the vines are over 50 years old and cultivated without herbicides or chemicals. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand at full ripeness. They are first selected in the vineyard and then in the winery. Fermentation is carried out in the traditional way, i.e. only with native yeasts and finally, the wine is aged in small oak barrels for 12 months.

Château Simone is one of the region’s legendary names, and their wines are renowned for their elegance, finesse and extraordinary bottle aging potential. Their wine of the same name is proof of this. An explosion of black fruits with a huge future.
