Elegance is the main note in Comabruna 2018, an intense, robust and structured red. Both nose and palate are intense and concentrated with aromas of rosemary, plum and truffle. The palate is round and long, powerful and with good acidity. A long and velvety finish. Silky and full-bodied.

About Comabruna

Comabruna is a red wine from the Empordà prepared by the Espelt bodega.

Comabruna is a single-Carignan. The grapes come from very old vines, 111 years old, planted on slopes of slate soils in the Rabós area in the Alt Empordà (Girona). The performance of the vineyards is very low, approximately 2500kg /h.

In summer, the sun and north wind ensure that the grapes enjoy a good balance between ripeness and acidity.

The development of Comabruna begins with a manual harvest in boxes of 15kg and a manual selection in the vineyard.

Once in the winery the must undergoes a pre-fermentation and cold maceration for three days. After, the wort is fermented at a controlled temperature of 28°C before finishing with a post-fermentation maceration for 10 days.

Finally the wine is aged for 18 months in 500 litre Bordeaux vats.

2018

Elegance is the main note in Comabruna 2018, an intense, robust and structured red. Both nose and palate are intense and concentrated with aromas of rosemary, plum and truffle. The palate is round and long, powerful and with good acidity. A long and velvety finish. Silky and full-bodied.
2011 Powerful, intense and flavourful entry. Silky and meaty with a great presence of fruit and menthol notes. Very good acidity and well integrated tannins. Long and pleasant finish.

Cherry red with violet, intense and deep reflections. Tinted tear.

Medium-high intensity. Aromas of ripe fruit with slightly spicy and mineral slate background.
2010 A bulky, fleshy and tasty red wine. It has a good, well integrated acidity and ripe tannins. It shows a good structure and has a long and persistent finish which leaves notes of ripe fruit and deep spicy aromas in the aftertaste.

Intense dark cherry red colour with violet reflections. Clean and bright wine with a high robe. Slightly coloured tears.

Such as the previous vintage, this one shows clean nasal aromas with a medium-high intensity. After a while, its outstanding toasted aromas give way to intense and expressive notes of very ripe black fruit. Its spicy notes and its nice mineral background nuance this set.
2009 In the palate, it shows a bulky, meaty and tasty attack, a good acidity and ripe tannins. It is well structured and has a long and persistent finish. Its aftertaste leaves notes of ripe fruit and deep spices hints.

Clean and bright dark cherry colour with violet reflections. Dark tears.

This red wine shows clean nasal aromas with a medium-high intensity and a good balance between the powerful aromas of ripe black fruit and some intense toasted notes. This aromatic set is completed with some spicy hints and a nice mineral background.
