About Condado de Haza Crianza

The story of Condado de Haza begins as all great tales do: with a thrilling start. Isn't it exhilarating that Alejandro Fernández and Esperanza Rivera purchased a winepress after selling a patent? A decade later, in 1988, the business thrived to such an extent that the Familia Fernández Rivera was able to plant new vines on the banks of the Duero River, aiming to create a winery reminiscent of the French châteaux. Thus, Condado de Haza was born, the first Castilian château where Condado de Haza Crianza is crafted.

Situated in the village of Roa, in Burgos, Condado de Haza stands as one of the most comprehensive estates in the current landscape. Their meticulous wine production is complemented by other wine tourism activities, offering one of the most complete experiences to immerse oneself in the world of wine. The family-owned winery spans approximately 200 hectares, featuring a diverse array of soils whose secrets are expertly unveiled. In the case of Condado de Haza Crianza, the vines thrive in a plot at 800 metres altitude, where sandy and clay soils abound. Throughout the entire production process, Condado de Haza Crianza is crafted with artisanal care and in a completely organic manner.

Condado de Haza Crianza matures under a climate of stark contrasts, with harsh, long, and cold winters juxtaposed against short, dry, and hot summers. This ensures the grapes ripen correctly, requiring close attention to harvest at the opportune moment. Once this stage is reached, Condado de Haza Crianza is taken to the winery to ferment and be pressed, proceeding directly to American oak barrels where it will rest for a minimum of 12 months before being bottled and becoming one of the top 100 wines in the world (according to Wine Spectator). Notably, the place where Condado de Haza Crianza will rest is quite unique, as the winery is carved into a hill, creating a 30-metre deep tunnel that serves as a wine cellar, maintaining optimal temperature and humidity conditions.

More than just a wine, Condado de Haza Crianza is a direct passport, a safe-conduct to the corners of the D.O. Ribera del Duero without making any stops along the way.
