About Contino San Rafael

Contino San Rafael is a red wine from the D.O. La Rioja produced by the Contino winery.  

The grape harvest is carried out manually as soon as the bunches are at the optimum stage of ripeness. The grapes go through a double selection process: on the vine, and upon entering the winery. 

The harvested berries are left to ferment in French oak vats. Later, they are macerated for seven days, during which time, they carry out several 'plungings'. Malolactic fermentation takes place in second use barrels.

Contino San Rafael rests in the barrel for two years before being bottled and later sold.

2019 Contino Garnacha 2019 is an exceptionally expressive red wine that, on the nose, presents a bouquet of vibrant red fruits complemented by delicate floral and balsamic undertones, along with hints of Mediterranean scrub (thyme, rosemary…). On the palate, it glides smoothly, with a fresh and expansive mouthfeel. This single-varietal Garnacha boasts a harmonious acidity, nuanced finesse, and is exquisitely elegant.
2015 Contino Garnacha 2015 is a deep, complex and fresh red wine. In this vintage the aromas of fresh red fruit stand out, with elegant toasted and spicy notes. On the palate, it is full and silky, with a fresh and lingering finish.
