An entire ocean separates the United States and Europe, yet it was this very sea that brought together the Dane, Hans, and the American, Carrie, when they set sail in search of the perfect place to start a family. Their destination was Alentejo in Portugal, where they not only found a home but also the ideal vineyard to challenge traditions. In a region dominated by white varieties, they boldly planted red grapes, giving birth to their venture: Cortes de Cima.
Today, their daughter Anna Jorgensen continues the legacy with a philosophy of minimal intervention and maximum sustainability, ensuring each wine reflects the purity of its surroundings. Cortes de Cima Tinto is a clear testament to this. A blend of syrah, touriga franca, and other indigenous varieties, cultivated in a privileged vineyard near the Serra do Mendro. This unique location, benefiting from the influence of Atlantic breezes, enjoys an exceptional microclimate that tempers the warm temperatures of southeast Portugal. Additionally, its granite and limestone soils provide structure and minerality, allowing the vine to express its full character. The hand-picked nocturnal harvest and minimal intervention winemaking ensure the utmost expression of the fruit. Subsequently, the wine matures for 12 months in French and American oak barrels, achieving balance, depth, and complexity.
With its vibrant character, silky tannins, and well-integrated fruit, Cortes de Cima Tinto embodies a story of passion, audacity, and respect for the land. A wine that transcends borders and traditions, carrying the soul of Alentejo and the spirit of those who dare to dream.
