About Damijan Podversic Kaplja Bianco

Damijan Podversic Kaplja Bianco is an orange wine made with the Chardonnay, Tocai Friulano and Malvasia varieties by Damijan Podversic in the IGT Venezia Giulia, in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
 
A student of the great Josko Gravner, Damijan Podversic, with 40 years of experience behind him, is now a leading producer in Friuli. Under the mantra “balance”, he set up his own project on the south-facing wooded slopes of Mount Calvary. This is a surprising winery producing natural wines through meticulous work and patience. 
 
Damijan Podversic Kaplja Bianco comes from a 1.5 hectare vineyard with loamy and stony soil lying 120 metres above sea level. The winemaking process, which is strictly organic, seeks to maintain balance and health in the plants. The harvest is carried out manually in boxes and the grapes are selected in the vineyard itself. 
 
The Damijan Podversic Kaplja Bianco grapes are fermented on the skins in oak vats with native yeasts and no temperature control. The wine is then aged for 36 months in foudres before bottling without adding sulphites. 
 
Damijan Podversic Kaplja Bianco is an aromatic, flavoursome and harmonious orange wine which, as Damijan Podversic himself would say, is the fruit of “a great soil, a great grape variety and ripe fruit.”

Damijan Podversic Kaplja Bianco 2016 is a creamy orange wine with complex aromas of ripe white fruit, honey nuances and hints of flowers, almonds and black tea. On the palate it is full-bodied, smooth and pleasant. A balanced and harmonious wine with a long, smooth and flavoursome finish.
