About Delaire Graff Summercourt Chardonnay

This place is a paradise, but it has to be in the right hands to be the best it can be. And that has certainly been the case with Delaire Graff, one of South Africa’s most prestigious wineries and one of the world’s most desirable destinations for art, hospitality and food. It is such a special place that the then owner of the winery changed the name from Avontuur to Delaire Estate, meaning ‘from the sky’. Its latest owner, jewellery and diamond merchant Laurence Graff, has managed to transform it into a true luxury destination.

Delaire Graff wines are just as exclusive. Winemaker Morné Vrey and his team strive to combine elegance and local splendour in wines like Delaire Graff Summercourt Chardonnay, a single-variety Chardonnay from the magical Helshoegte Pass Valley in Stellenbosch (Coastal Region). For these vines, the influence of the refreshing Atlantic breeze is very important for them to grow an intense and top quality fruit. They are cultivated using traditional agriculture and the grapes are harvested early in the morning to make sure they are at their best. Once the grapes reach the winery, they are pressed in whole bunches and placed in stainless steel tanks to begin the fermentation process until it is 50% complete. The resulting must is transferred to French oak barrels, where fermentation finishes with a 6-month aging on lees.

Delaire Graff wines represent a unique elegance and Delaire Graff Summercourt Chardonnay is a testament to this. A very distinguished varietal white wine that, like the natural environment it comes from, really stands out from the crowd.

2019

Delaire Graff Summercort Chardonnay 2019 is an aromatic white wine with a nose of tropical fruit and stone fruit. The palate is opulent, juicy and balanced. A wine with pleasant and balanced acidity and a refined minerality.
