About Corullón

Descendientes de J. Palacios Corullón is a red wine crafted in the D.O Bierzo by Descendientes de J. Palacios in the village of Villafranca del Bierzo, León. The winery was established by Álvaro Palacios and his nephew Ricardo in 1999, captivated by the region's potential and the Mencía grape variety.

Descendientes de J. Palacios Corullón is the village wine of the winery, crafted from Mencía vines planted on slate soils and slopes surrounding the village. The vineyards are organically farmed without any chemical pesticides or herbicides.

Vinification takes place in wooden vats through spontaneous fermentation, followed by malolactic fermentation and maturation in French oak barrels.

Descendientes de J. Palacios Corullón is an exceptional red wine from Bierzo, which year after year eloquently conveys the essence of the vintage, the vineyards, and the village.

As approachable as it is alluring, Descendientes de J. Palacios Corullón 2024 begins with a citrus caress that enlivens the palate with freshness and subtlety. On the palate, it is juicy, light, and vibrant, akin to a dance among wildflowers, red fruits, and powdery notes reminiscent of an antique dressing table. It flows with elegance and agility, leaving a savoury and charming trail that beckons another sip. Simply delightful.
2023

Descendientes de J. Palacios Corullón 2023 is a wine that stands out for its silkiness and freshness. On the nose, it offers aromas of ripe red fruits such as cherries and raspberries, accompanied by subtle spicy notes. On the palate, it is concentrated and mineral, with a smooth texture that envelops the mouth. Its balance and elegance make it an ideal choice for those seeking a refined and characterful wine.                      
2022

Descendientes de J. Palacios Corullón 2022 is a juicy red wine. The tasting starts with a bright red color and continues on the nose, with floral and fruity aromas (cherries). On the palate, it is earthy and flavorful, with a very fine and elegant acidity.
2017 According to Ricardo J. Palacios, 2017 has been a year of extremes and surprises. Such extremes included low rainfall and summer drought with high temperatures resulting in an unusually early harvest. On the other extreme was a late frost on April 27 that destroyed crops in the Bierzo Valley, including part of the harvest set aside for the regional wine of Pétalos del Bierzo. Adding to this was a hailstorm that hit a few weeks later on May 9 that devastated the area of Moncerbal, destroying the harvest there. Ricardo has been pleasantly surprised at how such a dry vintage with extreme temperatures has translated into balanced, elegant wines with a refined quality he hasn’t seen in their wines.
2016 A complex year in aromas, with a sandy/silky tannin texture lingering on the palate.  A balanced year, but a complex aroma with notes of cherries, violet hues and balsamic make up this wine from the village of Corullón.  On the palate, the flavour is both light and granulated at the same time, the vintage makes the wine agile yet complex.  
2010 In the mouth, we find a fresh and very tasty wine with a very fruity mid palate which leaves some mellow floral notes behind. Very good, sharp and integrated acidity, noticeable but pleasant tannins, good structure and fluid texture. Very lively red wine. Long and very persistent finish.

Clean and bright, dark cherry colour with violet reflections. Thin and beautiful tears.

Clean and complex high-intensity nasal aromas that take time to open up. After swirling the glass, its notes of fleshy and ripe red fruits are released along with floral hints of violets and lavender, toasted notes and spicy, mineral and balsamic nuances. Very pleasant and deep aromatic set.
