La Faraona 2025 dazzles with an alluring cherry red hue and a brilliance that captivates the eye. On the nose, it unveils intense aromas of ripe red fruits such as strawberries and cherries, accompanied by a subtle spicy nuance evoking black pepper and a mineral touch reminiscent of damp earth. About La Faraona

Descendientes de J. Palacios La Faraona is a red wine crafted in the D.O Bierzo by Descendientes de J. Palacios in the town of Villafranca del Bierzo, León. The winery was established by Álvaro Palacios and his nephew Ricardo in 1999, captivated by the potential of the region and the Mencía grape variety.

Descendientes de J. Palacios La Faraona is a wine sourced from a single vineyard, located in the El Ferrol area at the top of Corullón. It is situated at an altitude of 975 meters and faces southeast, receiving sunlight only in the morning, and is planted on shallow slate soil.

The production of Descendientes de J. Palacios La Faraona is carried out in a highly artisanal manner, with very gentle foot treading and always respecting the grapes until fermentation is complete and the wine is placed in barrels.

La Faraona is a unique plot in Bierzo, yielding an average of 1,000 bottles per year. This wine embodies the landscape, soil, climate, and vineyard, transforming the Mencía grape into something extraordinary and magical.

Descendientes de J. Palacios La Faraona 2023 is a light-bodied and youthful red wine, aged in barrels. On the nose, it features aromas of fresh red fruits such as strawberries and cherries, accompanied by a subtle hint of violets. On the palate, it is fluid and elegant, with smooth tannins and a balanced acidity that imparts freshness. Its finish is long and persistent, leaving a pleasant fruity aftertaste.
2022

Descendientes de J. Palacios La Faraona 2022 is a "wonderful" red wine. With a pale color, this white wine surprises with a nose full of fruity notes, including cherry, blueberry, and fennel. On the palate, it is dense, with a fresh finish and a pronounced mineral touch. It has great potential for aging in the bottle.
2017 According to Ricardo J. Palacios, 2017 has been a year of extremes and surprises. Such extremes included low rainfall and summer drought with high temperatures resulting in an unusually early harvest. On the other extreme was a late frost on April 27 that destroyed crops in the Bierzo Valley, including part of the harvest set aside for the regional wine of Pétalos del Bierzo. Adding to this was a hailstorm that hit a few weeks later on May 9 that devastated the area of Moncerbal, destroying the harvest there. Ricardo has been pleasantly surprised at how such a dry vintage with extreme temperatures has translated into balanced, elegant wines with a refined quality he hasn’t seen in their wines.
2016 The great fine wine of the area is a promising vintage which is nothing less than that expected of it.  Extremely mysterious because of its violets and dark fruit that tell the story of an indescribable plot.  On the palate, a square tannic full of energy and excellent acidity promise a few structured years in search of light.  At thy feet!
2015 Descendientes de J. Palacios La Faraona 2015 presents an experience that captivates from the very first sip. On the nose, this wine unveils intense aromas of ripe black fruits such as blackberries and plums, complemented by subtle spicy notes.
