Las Lamas 2025 is a wine that captivates from the very first sip. It boasts a deep, brilliant red hue that beckons one to explore its offerings. About Las Lamas

He is known as the pharaoh of Spanish wine. And he has no complexes whatsoever. He knows that Spanish wines enjoy full recognition; but this is not enough for him. This praise must be accompanied by high prices, at the same level as French wines, ‘where Spanish wines can look French wines in the eye.’ He says so because he knows it. And Alvaro Palacios knows he can do it. His tools: any of his wines, such as Descendientes de J. Palacios Las Lamas.

Álvaro Palacios’ base of operations is located in Corullón, right in the Bierzo DO, a region that has managed to rise to the top thanks to all the Parker points accumulated by its wines. Palacios, who was never formally trained and has always been self-taught, knows every corner of this northwestern Spanish appellation inside out, where he gets the best out of each of his plots. In this case it was the turn of Las Lamas, an old vineyard over 60 years old, whose main characteristic element is the presence of clays mixed with the slate soils. Only a few hectares make up the surface of this very special south-facing vineyard, where mencía, palomino and garnacha ripen faster than other vineyards (such as Moncerbal, where only the orientation varies).

Always letting the terroir speak for itself, and in favour of the least possible intervention in the cellar, Álvaro Palacios is also the author of a new structure of categories that distinguishes several tiers: starting with Bierzo’s regional wines, continuing with village or town wines, followed by ‘vino de paraje’ wines, and ending with wines from classified vineyards and wines from large classified vineyards. Descendientes De J. Palacios Las Lamas can be found in the latter. Undoubtedly the best wine with which to start this revolution of Bierzo wines.

Descendientes De J. Palacios Las Lamas 2022 is a juicy, high-quality red wine. Pleasant and supple with aromas of blueberries and currants. The palate is clean, firm and fresh. Round and enveloping tannins.
2020 Las Lamas 2020 is an intense and profound red wine. On the nose, it presents pleasant fruity aromas, complemented by a subtle floral nuance. The palate is greeted with delightful fullness and a more continental character. This is a delicate yet fleshy wine with an elegance that defies easy description. It remains consistent over time and, undoubtedly, matures beautifully in the bottle.
2017 Las Lamas 2017 is a red wine with aromas of red and black fruits on the nose, accompanied by vinous, mineral and balsamic notes. On the palate it is dense and stimulating. A voluptuous and meaty red wine with extraordinary aging potential. It will be at its best after ten years in the bottle.
2016 Las Lamas is another privileged area in the town of Corullón; the soil has more clay than its companion along the ravine.  This year it expresses fruitier and less floral tones than Moncerbal. The texture on the palate is rounder and has an endless finish, with the acidity that this Atlantic vintage is known for.
