About Deutz Blanc de Blancs
When William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann decided to relocate to France, drawn by the opportunities the country offered under the reign of Louis Philippe I, they could scarcely have envisioned that their venture would endure nearly two centuries later. Deutz, with an exceptional acumen for business and a profound passion for wine, settled in the Champagne region, while Geldermann, a merchant and master of winemaking, sought to perfect his craft among the vineyards.
In 1838, they combined their talents and founded the maison Deutz & Geldermann in Aÿ, laying the foundation for a house that from its inception was distinguished by excellence, tradition, and an elegant, timeless style. Over time, Maison Deutz expanded, acquiring plots in Grands Crus and Premiers Crus and opening up to the international market. Their champagnes crossed borders, and today the “Deutz style” is recognised worldwide for its elegance, finesse, and balance, blending the strictest tradition with a contemporary character that continues to captivate wine enthusiasts.
A brilliant example of this philosophy is Deutz Blanc de Blancs, a champagne that reflects the history and spirit of its founders. Crafted from Chardonnay sourced from selected vineyards in Avize, Mesnil, Oger, Villeneuve Renneville, Cramant-Chouilly, Villers-Marmery, and Trépail, cultivated in chalky and clay soils under a continental climate, the wine is harvested manually and carefully in small crates to protect the grapes and preserve their freshness. Following the méthode champenoise and adding a dosage of 7 grams per litre, Deutz Blanc de Blancs exhibits balance, delicacy, and elegance, embodying the maison's vision.
Thus, each sip of Deutz Blanc de Blancs is a tribute to William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann, two Prussians who transformed their passion for wine into a legacy that continues to shine in every bubble.
| 2018 | Champagne Deutz Blanc de Blancs 2018 exhibits a stunning pale gold hue that captivates at first glance. The fine bubbles are delicate and persistent, enhancing its elegance. As you bring the glass to your nose, subtle notes of linden blossom, acacia, and hawthorn emerge, accompanied by aromas of fresh fruit such as green apple and citrus, with a tangy touch that promises freshness. On the palate, this champagne reveals itself as vibrant and perfectly balanced, distinguished by its appealing minerality and an exceptional creamy texture. It is recommended for sparkling wine enthusiasts seeking expressiveness and a touch of sophistication in every sip. The year 2018 was exceptionally favourable for chardonnay, with ideal weather conditions that enhanced the complexity and richness of this wine. |
