About Dievole Novecento Chianti Classico Riserva

The Italian word “Novecento” means “nine hundred” in English. The 20th century can also be known as “Novecento” and is used in Italian to refer to the period from 1900 to 1999. And under this same name, the Dievole Tuscan winery, produces a Chianti Classico to commemorate the 900 years of the winery’s history. As one of the oldest in Italy, Dievolo has had many owners since it was founded in 1090. But if there is one thing that has made this long-standing project stand out in recent times, it is its effort to capture the essence of the terroir, converting the entire estate to organic. This is how they create fresh, intense and flavoursome wines that are known around the world.

From a divine vineyard comes Dievole Novecento Chianti Classico Riserva, a commemorative wine made from Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Colorino grapes from vineyards lying at an altitude between 300 and 420 metres above sea level. These vines have an average age of 15 years old and are planted on clay-loam soils with marl, limestone and stones. They are cultivated organically and no chemical products are used. After the grapes are harvested at optimum ripeness, fermentation is carried out for 14 to 15 days in 75-hectolitre concrete tanks at controlled temperatures with native yeasts. The wine is then aged in large French oak barrels for 18 months and finally bottled and placed in the cellar for 6 months for refining.

Given their long experience of more than 900 years and their great care for the vineyards, Dievole Novecento Chianti Classico Riserva is one of the must-haves from the DOCG Chianti Classico Riserva. A wine that pays homage to Tuscan expertise.

Dievole Novecento Chianti Classico Riserva 2019 is a concentrated red wine with deep aromas of small black fruits, accompanied by spicy notes, hints of leather and hints of cocoa. On the palate it is rich, elegant and well structured. A wine with good acidity, silky tannins and a persistent and very mineral finish.
