About Domaine de la Tournelle Trousseau des Corvées

Domaine de la Tournelle Trousseau des Corvées is a single-variety Trousseau red wine produced by Domaine de la Tournelle in the AOC Arbois in Jura, France.

 

The Domaine de la Tournelle Trousseau des Corvées wine is made with bunches that come from plots with predominantly gravel soils over shallow Jurassic grey marls. The vineyard is south-facing and the grapes are harvested manually in 20 kilo boxes. The bunches are destemmed completely by hand in the vineyard itself. When the grapes reach the winery, they undergo a light crushing and macerate in open cylindrical containers for 10 to 30 days depending on the vintage. Cap plunges take place once a day with pump overs happening over the first three days of maceration. Alcoholic fermentation takes place with native yeasts and malolactic fermentation happens in tanks. Finally, the wine is aged in foudres for twelve months and is bottled without clarifying, filtering or adding sulphites.

 

Evelyne and Pascal Clairet cultivate their seven hectares of vineyard where they grow Arbois native varieties. They are both really passionate about the quality of their grapes, which they take great care of in the vineyard and as well as when they transport them to the winery.

 

They go through all this meticulous work to avoid resorting to adding sulphur and enhancing the quality of the wines they make. Although they work with minimal intervention, they are against the misconception that making organic wine means letting nature do their job for them. This philosophy explains their way of understanding and managing nature’s resources and using them to produce the highest quality authentic wines.

 

2016 Domaine de la Tournelle Trousseau des Corvées 2016 is a red wine with aromas of black fruits and spices on the nose. On the palate it is smooth and fresh. A delicate and flexible red wine that is round and structured.
