Domaine du Mortier Dionysos 2019 is a smooth red wine with aromas of red and black fruit accompanied by mineral notes. On the palate it is full, fresh and round. A juicy wine with marked acidity, integrated tannins and a long finish with spicy notes.

About Domaine du Mortier Dionysos

An important figure in Greek and Roman mythology, associated with wine, entertainment, fertility and religion, Dionysus (or Διόνυσος in Greek) is known as the god of wine and his cult involved the enjoyment of drinking and celebration. But he is also considered a god of nature and fertility because of his connection to the growth cycle of the vine and drunkenness, which is often associated with the loss of sexual inhibitions. His cult and mythology played an important role in ancient Greece and Rome, and his legacy endures in Western culture to this day. Aware of this heritage, brothers Cyril and Fabien Boisard, two winemakers who love natural wines, present a wine named after this god.

Domaine du Mortier Dionysos is a Cabernet Franc red wine from 30-year-old vines planted on gravel soils. They work organically, without chemical products, and biodynamic treatments are applied based on the place’s natural balance. The grapes are harvested by hand in boxes and then destemmed and gently pressed in the winery. Only native yeasts are used for fermentation, after which the wine is aged in oak barrels for 8 months. Finally, the wine is bottled without clarifying or filtering and only adding minimal sulphites.

Inspired by the god of wine, Domaine du Mortier Dionysos is a wine that is the authentic fruit of nature. A reflection of the Loire terroir that these two brothers have been able to love and interpret in the most respectful way.
