Domaine Eric Morgat Anjou Blanc La Croisée des Chenins 2017 is a lusciously creamy white wine, boasting a golden-yellow hue, exquisitely aromatic and delightful. On the nose, it is intense and complex, with a broad spectrum of scents ranging from apple to blossoms, interspersed with grapefruit, pineapple, and mineral undertones (wet stone, chalk). The palate is opulent and buttery, underpinned by a vibrant acidity, and further complemented by notes of white fruit, lemon, grapefruit, and a hint of salinity.

In 2017, the vintner Eric Morgat encountered a dilemma: the April frosts had ravaged a significant portion of his harvest. The only viable solution to salvage that vintage was to blend the grapes from his various plots. Thus was born Domaine Eric Morgat Anjou Blanc La Croisée des Chenins.

Although in subsequent years Eric Morgat has not faced this issue again (at least not to such an extent), Domaine Eric Morgat Anjou Blanc La Croisée des Chenins has become a staple among his finest creations. And for good reason, don't you think? With it, Eric Morgat has proven his ability to extract the best from the schist and white earth soils of Savennières, within the A.O.C. Anjou, nestled in the heart of the Loire Valley. The challenge was not easy, as Eric, who has viticulture in his blood, began his solo journey starting with abandoned lands that were reclaimed. This effort is realized today in the six hectares of Domaine Eric Morgat.

Each plot that comprises Domaine Eric Morgat Anjou Blanc La Croisée des Chenins is fermented in separate barrels, with minimal intervention, using spontaneous fermentation from indigenous yeasts. Following this, Domaine Eric Morgat Anjou Blanc La Croisée des Chenins is blended and undergoes a maturation of at least one year in French oak barrels. But the process does not end there, as Domaine Eric Morgat Anjou Blanc La Croisée des Chenins is bottled and rests for another year before being released for sale.
