About Domaine Eric Morgat Savennières Morgat Fidès
For Eric Morat, wine is like music and the terroir is the score that the winemaker must know how to interpret. Following this metaphor, we could say that Eric is a virtuoso who plays up to four pieces at the same time. With Domaine Eric Morgat Savennières Morgat Fidès, a blend of four different plots, Eric becomes a virtuoso, a true master of an orchestra.
Domaine Eric Morgat Savennières Morgat Fidès is the union of Enclos, Clos Ferrand, Clos de La Pierre Bécherelle and La Roches aux Moines, the four plots that the winegrower owns in Savennières, in the A.O.C. Anjou (in the Loire Valley). And each one has its own unique features: while Enclos, which was the first plot planted by Eric in 1995, and Clos Ferrand abound in schist soils, Clos de Pierre Bécherelle and La Roche aux Moines have the best soils in the denomination, abundant in schist, sand and volcanic rocks. Each has its thing. And each needs recognition for that thing. This is not easy, as Eric Morat has found. He follows a totally organic approach, which takes a lot of time, expertise and attention. Each variety must be listened to, understood and given what it needs.
At the time of processing, each of the varieties stays separate. From the grape harvest through fermentation to aging. After a year’s rest, Domaine Eric Morgat Savennières Morgat Fidès is blended (now is the right time!) and left to rest for another ten months (approximately).
Taste lies in the variety and in the mixture. Although if we’re talking about Eric Morgat, the pleasure is always ours. Long live Domaine Eric Morgat and long live Savennières Morgat Fidès.

| 2016 | Domaine Eric Morgat Savennières Morgat Fidès 2016 is an opulent, scrumptious white with a golden hue and greenish highlights. Olfactorily, it is exceedingly complex and diverse, abundant in scents, featuring nuances of freshly cut grass, mint, pear, apple, and hints of apricot. On the palate, it is expansive and sumptuously silky, initiating with a creamy and potent burst, complemented by saline notes and a rich bitterness of orange peel. The finish is intense and zesty, with a lingering persistence. |
