About Domaine François Mikulski Meursault Poruzots 1er Cru

Since 1992, François Mikulski has been cultivating the vineyard parcels bequeathed by his uncle Pierre Boillot in the prestigious A.O.C. Meursault 1er Cru, at the heart of the Côte de Beaune. Specifically, these 62 hectares of vineyard sprawl across Poruzots, one of the 19 esteemed Premiers Crus Climats nestled in the Burgundian Côte d'Or, in the east-central region of France.

Under a sharecropping system, where half of the harvest goes to the landowner, the Domaine François Mikulski Meursault Poruzots 1er Cru is born. This white wine, made from old vines (around 50 years old) of chardonnay, is oriented to the east. The soil, which is organically cultivated without certification, is silty, resting on a bed of fractured rock that retains moisture and facilitates root development.

Domaine François Mikulski Meursault Poruzots 1er Cru ferments in barrels from François Frères and Trémeaux (20%-30% of which are new), prolonging its maturation in these vessels that preserve the finest expressions of the terroir.

"The most important aspect comes from the terroir. For me, Burgundy should be marked by its purity, as overripeness can be found everywhere," explained Mikulski in an interview with Vins de France.

2019

Domaine François Mikulski Meursault Poruzots 1er Cru 2019 is a sumptuously creamy white wine. The bouquet is characterized by its minerality, featuring chalky nuances, hints of lavender, lemongrass, coriander, white peach, coconut, and pear. On the palate, it is succulent, brimming with white fruit, a medley of citrus notes including lime, grapefruit, and clementine. It boasts a vibrant acidity, exuding both energy and flavor. The finish is precise and subtly citric, complemented by woody undertones and a suggestion of nuts.
