About Domaine Gramenon La Sagesse

Domaine Gramenon La Sagesse is a monovarietal Grenache Tinta red wine produced by Domaine Gramenon. It belongs to the AOC Côtes de Provence.

Domaine Gramenon is one of the most prestigious wineries in the Rhone Valley. It was founded in 1978 and is located in Montbrison-sur-Lez. It has old vineyards, including one plot that is over one hundred years old, and produces natural wines, without using hardly any sulphites and without filtering them, to allow the terroir to be expressed in its fullness.

The grapes for Domaine Gramenon La Sagesse come from three plots located in Gramenon, near the town of Montbrison-sur-Lez. Two of the plots are located on a limestone plateau 300 metres above sea level, and the other on its southern slope, which is a little more sandy. The vineyards are between 50 and 70 years old and are cultivated biodynamically. Their yields are very low, 20 hectolitres per hectare, and are harvested by hand.

Domaine Gramenon La Sagesse is vinified by macerating with the grape skins for 15 days in cement vats. It is fermented with native yeasts, and malolactic fermentation is either performed or not, depending on the year. Lastly, the wine remains in barrels ageing for 12 months. The wine is bottled in the autumn of the year following the harvest.

Domaine Gramenon La Sagesse is a wine with an ageing potential that can be consumed even a little over 10 years after bottling.
2017 Domaine Gramenon La Sagesse 2017 has a sweet and powerful nose of red fruit with touches of black fruit and mineral notes. It fills the mouth, is dense, and once again offers fruit and a lingering finish.
