About Domaine Huet Vouvray Le Mont Demisec

When we speak of the Loire, we inevitably refer to chenin blanc. And if there is one name that embodies its magnificence, it is Domaine Huet. Since its establishment in 1928, this estate located in Vouvray has been the benchmark for age-worthy chenin blanc, crafting year after year some of the world's most captivating white wines.

Founded by Victor Huet and his son Gaston, Domaine Huet now boasts 30 hectares of chenin blanc spread across three legendary parcels: Le Haut-Lieu, Le Mont, and Clos du Bourg. In 1988, the winery took a decisive step by becoming a pioneer of biodynamic cultivation in the Loire Valley, reaffirming its commitment to the purity of the soil, the vine, and the environment.

Among its treasures, Domaine Huet Vouvray Le Mont Demi-Sec stands out, sourced from vineyards over 10 years old planted on clay-limestone and stony soils. Specifically, it is situated on a green clay slope located just above the estate's tufa cellars, where the grapes achieve a perfect balance between freshness and ripeness.

During the harvest, the clusters are handpicked in several passes, selecting only those that reach their optimal point according to the desired wine style. The whole clusters are gently pressed, without crushing, and after 24 hours of settling, the must is divided: one part ferments in stainless steel tanks and the other in old barrels. The fermentation, driven by indigenous yeasts, follows its own pace, unhurried, until the wine matures for 6 months before bottling.

Le Mont Demi-Sec is the most refined expression of Vouvray. An elegant, balanced, and vibrant wine, where the lively acidity of chenin intertwines with a subtle natural sweetness, demonstrating that Domaine Huet is indisputably one of the great producers of age-worthy chenin blanc.
