Behind this red is Fabien Duperray, a Burgundy wine merchant who has been making wines since 2007, making it one of the essential Beaujolais wines. This region, in the south of Burgundy, is where this winegrower is based, but he makes various wines around the region. For his Domaine Jules Desjourneys Moulin à Vent Les Michelons, this winegrower travels to the A.O.C. Moulin à Vent, one of the most important and renowned. This denomination, which stretches between the villages of Romanèche-Thorins and Chénas, takes its name from the emblematic windmills that are part of its 640 hectare landscape. As the name suggests, Domaine Jules Desjourneys Moulin à Vent Les Michelons is grown in the Les Michelons lieu dit, in the north of the denomination, where the soils are a mix of granite, limestone, marl and sandstone. Here, where the wines are known as the Gentlemen of Beaujolais, cultivation is biodynamic.

Domaine Jules Desjourneys Moulin à Vent Les Michelons ferments in the cellar and rests in tanks made of various materials. For years, Fabien Duperray has done away with wood in his aging processes, opting instead for other materials like cement or stainless steel. Simply delicious!
