About Domaine Jules Desjourneys Pouilly-Fuissé

For years, he has been dedicated to the acquisition and sale of wine. Along this journey, he has discovered bottles and vintners that were initially obscure but intriguing, who eventually emerged to become prominent winemakers. This skill, by no means easy and requiring constant honing, has earned him the moniker "the diviner of wine". Now, Fabien Duperry ceases his search on behalf of others and concentrates on the productions and craftings of Jules Desjourneys, his own winery, where he creates Domaine Jules Desjourneys Pouilly-Fuissé.

The footsteps of Fabien Duperry have led him across various French regions. His journey began in Beaujolais with its celebrated reds, where the quality of his wines has been nothing short of exemplary. Yet, his path now winds through Burgundy, specifically to the south, in the A.O.C. Pouilly-Fuissé, where he ventures into the production of whites. Here, he competes at a high level. It's important to note that the A.O.C. Pouilly-Fuissé is the most renowned and esteemed of the region, with white wines that, although they may not rival their northern counterparts (specifically those from the Côte d'Or), they are nonetheless capable of capturing attention. But this was to be expected. A winery like Jules Desjourneys, which enjoys a prestigious reputation, could aim for no less. The blend of soils characteristic of the appellation (comprising limestone, clays, and marls) can be tasted and discerned on the palate thanks to the chardonnay, a variety that thrives on these materials and adapts perfectly to them. Indeed, there is no more suitable variety for Domaine Jules Desjourneys Pouilly-Fuissé, as this grape is perfectly suited to the minimal interventionist methods so favored by Fabien Duperry.

With the philosophy that the terroir should always take precedence, all wines from Fabien Duperry are akin to a photograph of the location where they have been cultivated. With biodynamics at the forefront, Duperry aspires to refrain from any intervention in the winery; rather, to simply observe and contemplate, to watch the wine evolve and allow it to express itself as it desires. Domaine Jules Desjourneys Pouilly-Fuissé ferments and matures for a period in wood, achieving a tempering and softening of the robust and mineral character of the soils of the Mâconnais.

Since 2007, Fabien Duperry has been immersed in this project, which has brought him immense joy. If he himself experiences satisfaction, there's no need to describe the delight felt by his followers each time a new wine and a new bottle emerge from his winery. Domaine Jules Desjourneys Pouilly-Fuissé 2018 is a sculpted white wine, presenting a pale yellow hue with golden highlights. The bouquet is exceedingly complex, offering scents of pear, melon, white currants, alongside bakery nuances and praline. On the palate, it is intricate, full-bodied and well-structured. Exceedingly elegant and flavorful.
