About Domaine Matrot Bourgogne Chardonnay
Domaine Matrot Bourgogne Chardonnay is a barrel-aged, single-variety Chardonnay white wine made by Domaine Matrot in the AOC Bourgogne (France).
Domaine Matrot dates back to 1914 in the French denomination of Meursault (Côte de Beaune). However, when the third generation took over in 1976, the winery entered a new era. Current owners Thierry Matrot and his wife Pascale now practice what in France is known as the “lutte raisonnée” (‘reasoned struggle’). That means they don’t use chemicals in the 18 hectares of vineyards they own and they only use very specific phytosanitary treatments in extreme cases. Likewise, in the winery they constantly ensure high quality at all stages of the winemaking process and their wines go to market with a great bottle aging potential.
Domaine Matrot Bourgogne Chardonnay comes from 30-year-old vines in Meursault. These are vineyards cultivated without using chemical fertilisers, instead using organic fertilisers and treatments to combat specific diseases. The health, yields and maturity are carefully observed at all stages until harvest.
In the winery, Domaine Matrot Bourgogne Chardonnay undergoes spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts for approximately 8 weeks in oak barrels. The wine then rests with its own lees for 11 months. Finally, following racking, the wine is bottled.
Domaine Matrot Bourgogne Chardonnay is a white wine that expresses complex aromas of the fruit and the personality of the terroir thanks to a very careful production process.

| 2017 | Domaine Matrot Bourgogne Chardonnay 2017 is a creamy white wine with citrus aromas, white flowers and light almond touches. On the palate it is unctuous, mineral and rich. A rounded wine with a long and persistent finish. | |
