About Domaine Matrot Bourgogne Pinot Noir

In France, the wine country par excellence, every wine region has its own classification. For example, in Alsace, the vine is the most important thing and in Bordeaux the domain is king. In Burgundy it is the terroir that is the protagonist. So much so that the wine takes the name of the land it comes from. Under the concept of “climat”, which is a specific vineyard plot with its own history and particular geological and climatic conditions, they produce the very best wines.

Domaine Matrot, one of the oldest estates in Burgundy, has been accumulating the area’s great climats for five generations. A total of 23 hectares of exceptional vineyards which are currently managed by Adèle and Elsa Matrot and using the skill and passion they inherited from their ancestors. The result of this dedication is Domaine Matrot Bourgogne Pinot Noir, a Pinot Noir from the AOC Bourgogne, which comes from vines aged over 30 years old planted in clay and limestone soils. They are cultivated in a respectful way and the techniques prioritise the well-being of the soil and the plants. Once the grapes have reached optimum ripeness, they are harvested and the destemmed grapes are fermented with native yeasts at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for 10 months in French oak barrels.

The result could not be more tasty. The different orientations, soils and altitudes give the wine a unique personality. Domaine Matrot Bourgogne Pinot Noir is a fresh, juicy and very tasty wine. A full-fledged Bourgogne.

Domaine Matrot Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2018 is a smooth red wine with aromas of fresh, sweet red fruits, herbal notes and mineral hints. On the palate it is juicy, fresh and tasty. A medium-bodied wine with bright acidity, soft tannins and a delicious freshness on the finish.
