About Dominio del Bendito El Buen Rollo

The vineyard-laden plots are his canvases, and he is the artist. However, the masterpieces of Antony Terryn are neither gazed upon nor observed; they are inhaled and savoured. Welcome to Dominio del Bendito!, one of the most intriguing ventures within the D.O. Toro and the birthplace of Dominio del Bendito El Buen Rollo. 
 
Utterly fresh and vibrant, having spent less than five months in barrels, this single-varietal wine is crafted from tinta de Toro. Generally, Antony Terryn is not one to intervene excessively. He merely guides the vineyard cultivation process, though the vines already know what to do. Who would dare interfere with those over 45 years old! Specifically, Antony Terryn's base of operations is located in a historic site: the pago La Jara, an area renowned for its excellent outcomes. This location lies right beside the Duero River and exhibits unique characteristics that make it exceptional, such as its continental climate with Atlantic influences – and a significant temperature range between day and night – or its deep soils, with a high proportion of sand and pebbles. Over the years, this latter detail has been especially significant for two reasons: on one hand, its drainage, with little capacity to retain moisture, forces the vines to delve their roots in search of water and nutrients; on the other, its resistance to the 19th-century phylloxera plague, as this insect, which attacks the plant's roots, cannot survive or thrive in sandy terrain. This means that the majority of the vines cultivated by Terryn are ungrafted, planted on their own roots, without grafting onto American rootstock. For Terryn, this vineyard, inherited from ancient vintners, is a legacy of immense value that must be tended to organically and with manual labour. 
 
Dominio del Bendito El Buen Rollo undergoes fermentation and maceration with its skins for 12 to 15 days in a single 20,000-litre tank. After this period, it is racked off, and about half spends around three months in French oak barrels. The other half is transferred to American oak tanks, where it will rest for between one and four years. After this time, Dominio del Bendito El Buen Rollo becomes the perfect companion for a delightful time; akin to that amiable friend everyone wishes to be around.
