About Dominique Cornin Pouilly-Fuissé Clos du Roy

In Roman times France did not exist as a political or social entity. It was a vast region known to the Romans as Gaul. One of the most famous towns for its strategic location was Cantricia, a large Gallo-Roman city located near the river Saône (Burgundy), which is where the current name Chaintré comes from. A historic place where the Cornin family produces wines from five denominations: Beaujolais Blanc, Mâcon-Chaintré, Mâcon-Chânes, Pouilly-Fuissé and Saint-Véran, perfectly reflecting the magnificent terroir of southern Burgundy.

True to its origins, Dominique Cornin Pouilly-Fuissé Clos du Roy is a Chardonnay from the Cornin family’s 10 hectares of clay soils. The land is cultivated using biodynamic principles and all treatments are organic. Then in the winery the grapes are vinified in half barrels for 12 months and finished with an additional 12 months of aging in stainless steel vats on fine lees. Finally the wine is bottled without clarifying and with a very light filtration if necessary.

Named after Monsieur Reyssié, who planted Chardonnay in Pouilly-Fuissé in the 19th century and made this terroir famous, Dominique Cornin Pouilly-Fuissé Clos du Roy reflects the strength of the old vines and the richness of the clay soil. The balance between man and land.

 

2019

Dominique Cornin Pouilly-Fuissé Clos du Reyssié 2019 is a white wine with soft aromas of yellow peach and exotic fruits and subtle saline notes. On the palate it is rich, full and elegant. A medium-bodied wine full of fruitiness as well as being very energetic and beautifully rounded.
