About Dos Lusíadas Eleivera Blanco

Dos Lusíadas Eleivera White is a white wine on lees made by Dos Lusíadas, the winery run by Michel Chapoutier in the DOC Douro (Portugal), with the native Rabigato, Gouveio, Viosinho and Códega varieties.
 
When Michel Chapoutier took over the family winery in 1990, his main concern was to extract the best from the terroir through sustainable agriculture and respectful winemaking. A complete philosophy that begins in the Rhone Valley but extends to other parts of the world as is the case of Portugal, under the name Dos Lusíadas.
 
Dos Lusíadas Eleivera Blanco comes from vines planted in a plot of three hectares in Cima Corgen in the Alto Douro, in soils of granitic sands and medium deep schist. The vines enjoy a continental climate with hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters. The vines are cultivated using environmentally-friendly agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually in 20 kilogram boxes. 
 
In the winery, whole bunches of Dos Lusíadas Eleivera Blanco are pressed and after a static cold settling, they ferment with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Finally, the wine rests on its lees in stainless steel tanks for 6 months. 
 
Dos Lusíadas Eleivera White is a coupage of native varieties from Alto do Douro. Produced by the prestigious French winegrower, Michel Chapoutier, in the Alto Duero wine region, it presents us with a fresh, ample, vigorous, mineral wine.
