About Edetària Selecció Negre

Edetària winery proudly presents Edetària Selecció Negre, a wine from Terra Alta that epitomises a profound connection with its region.

Guided by its daring oenologist Joan Àngel Lliberia, Edetària Selecció Negre is a red wine crafted from garnacha tinta, cariñena, and garnacha peluda varieties, sourced from vineyards situated on terraces and slopes in the Plana de Gandesa. These 5 hectares of 40-year-old vines are planted on soils of "còdols" (ancient riverbed), "tapàs" (loamy texture with underlying clay material), and "tapàs blanc" (soils with carbonate fragments), cultivated traditionally and hand-harvested in 15-kilogram crates. Once at the winery, the grapes are chilled for 48 hours before initiating fermentation for around 25-30 days with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Subsequently, all the wines are blended, and finally, they mature in 300 and 500-litre French oak barrels for 12 months.

Edetària Selecció Negre is a wine that ensures meticulous, continuous, and demanding vineyard work to showcase the finest of the terroir.

 

2019

Edetària Selecció Vi de Finca Qualificada El Mas is an intense red wine. On the nose, initial balsamic and menthol notes are detected, which give way to ripe red fruits like cherries and raspberries when the glass is swirled, accompanied by subtle spicy hints. On the palate, it exhibits a concentrated profile, with a smooth texture and a perfect balance between its mature and slightly spiced flavours. Ideal for those seeking a complex and well-structured wine. 
2009 This tasty red wine has good acidity and some strong tannins with a long and elegant passage in the mouth (with roasted notes much more present than in the nose). A long and persistent finish with fruity and spicy notes at retro-olfaction.

Picota cherry colour with ruby reflections. Clean and bright. High robe. Fine, slightly tinted tears show on the glass.

Highly intense with refreshing balsamic and minty notes at first. Once airated, intense aromas of crispy, fleshy ripe red fruit appear (cherries, raspberries, blackberries) accompanied by strong spicy notes. Pleasant roasted background.
2008 Broad and bulky attack. Tasty, dry, silky and creamy on the palate. Very balanced, with great structure. Good acidity and very well integrated tannins. Long and persistent finish. Edetària 2008 is an elegant, concentrated red wine.

A very intense cherry red colour with a ruby rim. Clean and bright. Elegant and fine tears show on the glass.

Intense balsamic notes, aromas of undergrowth and dried herbs appear at first. Once opened out, intense aromas of red fruit, fleshy and ripe, appear along with a wide range of spices, touches of tobacco and chocolate. Nice mineral background.
2007 Good, wide and bulky attack and a delicious, dry, silky and creamy mid palate. Well balanced wine, with a great structure. It has a good acidity and well integrated tannins. An elegant and concentrated wine with a long and persistent finish.

Attractive red cherry colour with intense ruby â??â??edges. Clean and bright wine with elegant thin tears.

Complex aromas. Initially, the nose is dominated by intense balsamic and undergrowth aromas and a touch of dried herbs. When it opens up, very intense notes of fleshy and ripe red fruit are released along with a broad range of spices, tobacco and a touch of chocolate. Good mineral aromas are also noticed in the background.
