About Eduardo Torres Versante Nord

Eduardo Torres Versante Nord Rosso is a red wine made mainly from Nerello and Mascalese grapes, and from other native varieties. It is produced by Eduardo Torres Acosta and is classified as a wine from the IGT Terre Siciliane.

Eduardo Torres Acosta is the winery run by the young Canary Island winemaker who gives it its name. The vineyards are in Sicily, on Mount Etna, and the wines are produced biodynamically from three plots that he has rented and that he is recovering. They are vinified in the Arianna winery.

The vineyards for Eduardo Torres Versante Nord Rosso have sandy soils of volcanic origin and are located at an altitude of between 550 and 750 metres. These are two north-facing plots, Pietramarina and Crasa. Their strains are approximately 50 years old.

Eduardo Torres Versante Nord Rosso is made by mixing 10% of the whole harvest and macerating with the skins for 15 days. The grapes ferment with local yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Once vinified, the wine is aged for 16 months in 750 and 3,000 litre Slovenian oak foudres.

Eduardo Torres Versante Nord Rosso is a biodynamic red that is fruity, complex and mineral. A wine from a renowned young Canary Island winemaker installed in Sicily.

2016 Eduardo Torres Versante Nord 2016 has mineral and cedar aromas accompanied by fruity touches, such as cherry or plum. On the palate it is pure, direct, tasty, complex and voluminous, with a good network of polished tannins.
