Hermanos Hernáiz El Jardín de la Emperatriz Tinto is a red wine from a Viñedo Singular blend of tempranillo and garnacha varieties, crafted by Viñedos Hermanos Hernáiz-Finca La Emperatriz under the D.O.Ca. Rioja, in Spain.

Until the end of 2019, the range of wines under the "Finca La Emperatriz" label comprised nine wines made from grapes sourced from different plots of the vineyard bearing the same name, which, once their current vintages are sold out, will no longer be available. In their place, this new selection is launched where Hermanos Hernáiz El Jardín de la Emperatriz Tinto somewhat comes to replace the wine Finca La Emperatriz Crianza, which has ceased to be produced as such.

From 2019 onwards, the D.O.Ca. Rioja established a new classification of geographical indication that aims to value the terroir as a recognition of its qualitative contribution to a wine. Thus, the following three indications emerge: Viñedo Singular, Vinos de Municipio, and Vinos de Zona.

Finca La Emperatriz holds the Viñedo Singular certification, which refers to those small historical plots of limited high-quality production that, in summary, must comply with a series of strict standards that verify this qualitative position, the highest of the three certifications.

The clusters used to produce El Jardín de la Emperatriz Tinto come from plots where the soils are predominantly composed of white pebbles covering a loamy-sandy structure, with vines averaging 25 years of age.

Hermanos Hernáiz El Jardín de la Emperatriz Tinto undergoes an ageing process of 15 months in American and French oak barrels.

Viñedos Hermanos Hernáiz is the new venture by brothers Eduardo and Víctor, who in 1996 initiated Bodega La Emperatriz, named after the first owner of these plots, Eugenia de Montijo, wife of Napoleon III and Empress of France. With this new direction and new projects in hand, the winery changes its name, but its premium wines retain the Finca La Emperatriz signature, the name of the viñedo singular from which they originate.
