Hermanos Hernáiz El Pedal Tempranillo is a red wine produced by the winery Hermanos Hernáiz-Finca La Emperatriz in Baños de Rioja, D.O.Ca. Rioja.

Hermanos Hernáiz is the current name of the company that owns Finca La Emperatriz. The Hernáiz Brothers, owners of the farm since 1996, decide to change the name to host new wine projects in D.O.Ca. Rioja, taking advantage of the new classification that the council started to apply from the 2017 harvest.

The farm Finca La Emperatriz is located in Baños de Rioja, Rioja Alta. It has more than 100 hectares of vineyards located between the mountain ranges of Cantabria and Demanda, at almost 600 metres of altitude, on soils with a sandy-loam structure and a surface layer of boulders.

Hermanos Hernáiz El Pedal Tempranillo is a wine made from Tempranillo, from vineyards owned by the Hernáiz family in different villages of Rioja Alta, with an average age of 30 years.

Harvest is performed by hand. Once the grapes arrive at the winery, they ferment in stainless steel and cement deposits, with light pump-overs at a low temperature. They go through the malolactic fermentation and an ageing of 12 months in cement deposits  and in a 5000-litre wooden vat.

 Hermanos Hernáiz El Pedal Tempranillo is a fluid, blunt and fresh wine. It stands out for its fruity expressiveness with elegant notes of toasting and liquorice.

2020

Hermanos Hernáiz El Pedal Tempranillo 2020 is a succulent red with a cherry hue and violet edges. Olfactorily, it is exceedingly fruity, progressing towards wild herbs, ripe fruit, orange zest, and sweet spices such as vanilla. On the palate, it is chalky, with refined tannins. Harmonious and eminently quaffable.
2018 El Pedal 2018 is a juicy red wine with aromas of wild red fruit, notes of violet flowers and light toasted touches. On the palate it is fresh, light and direct. An easy to drink wine with a pleasant finish that is perfect for serving at a lower temperature than usual.
2017 The Pedal Blanco 2018 exudes scents of ripe white fruit complemented by a subtle floral nuance. On the palate, it is fruit-forward and lusciously sweet, balanced by a zesty acidity that imparts a refreshing crispness.
